Kroger – Pump House Renovations
The Kroger Company called on us to bid the pump house renovations at their Houston Distribution Center. We won the bid and got started planning immediately. We bid the project based on a scope of work and blueprints provided by Kroger. The project included demolition of a 750,000 gallon steel water tank that supplied fire sprinker water for the entire 1,000,000 sq ft distribution center. The large tank had to be carefully cut and torn down because it was surrounded by high voltage electrical lines, a above ground natural gas line, and it was 2′ away from the pump house that could not be damaged. We managed to get it out with out any incidents. The project also included construction of a new smaller tank foundation and galvanized steel tank. The concrete pump house is built out of solid concrete walls, roof, and floors. We had to saw the roof, walls, and floor in half to accommodate the new building design plans.
